CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to contract with Urecon for the purchase of pre-insulated pipe, valves and fittings for the steam portion of the Superior Street Reconstruction project in the amount of $260,696.24, payable from 540-920-1499-5530 (Steam, Steam Department, Steam Non-Operating, Improvements Other than Buildings).
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes the purchase of Series 2 pre-insulated pipe, valves and fittings in the amount of $260,696.24.
The pipe, valves and fittings will be used to make the connection from the steam plant at 1 Lake Place Drive through Michigan Street to Superior Street. The work must be completed during the 2017 construction season in order to maintain access to Michigan Street during the Superior Street reconstruction project, which is scheduled to begin in 2018. If the material is not secured now, the Superior Street reconstruction project will be delayed for another year.
Purchasing issued an invitation to bid on June 23, 2017 and received four bids. After a careful review of the bids, two bids were determined to be non-responsive for failure to meet the bid requirements. Urecon was determined to be the lowest responsible bidder.
