RESOLUTION APPROVING PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO THE SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE EXISTING CIVIL SERVICE CLASSIFICATION OF FLEET ASSISTANT, INCLUDING A TITLE CHANGE TO FLEET SERVICES COORDINATOR, AND SPECIFYING CONTRACT BENEFITS FOR SAME.

CITY PROPOSAL:

RESOLVED, that the proposed amendments to the specifications for the existing civil service classification of fleet assistant, including a title change to fleet services coordinator (attached as Exhibit A), which were approved by the civil service board on July 11, 2017, are approved.  This classification shall remain subject to the city's collective bargaining agreement with its basic unit employees; and that pay range for said classification shall change to Pay Range 32, pay rate of $4,578 to $5,396 per month, from Pay Range 28, pay rate of $3,910 to $4,578 per month.  The proper city officials are authorized to execute and implement an agreement with the union to provide for employing one or more unit members consistent with this resolution.

 

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  The existing classification of fleet assistant has been revised including a title change to fleet services coordinator to better reflect the job duties that have evolved over time.  One of the biggest changes has been implementing a new computer software system that monitors city assets and fleet inventory.  This position is responsible for implementing and managing this new software.  Leadworker language was also added to the job description to accurately reflect the three positions that this position leads: storekeeper, assistant storekeeper, and maintenance worker.  The pay range negotiated for this classification is Range 32, pay rate of $4,578 to $5,396 per month.  This is a change from Range 28, pay rate of $3,910 to $4,578 per month.
