RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PROPER CITY OFFICIALS TO ACCEPT FUNDS FROM THE JUNIOR LEAGUE OF DULUTH AND COMMUNITY ACTION DULUTH FOR A DEEP WINTER GREENHOUSE.

CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the city of Duluth is hereby authorized to accept up to $10,000 from the Junior League of Duluth and $3,000 from Community Action Duluth, to be used for construction of a Deep Winter Greenhouse on the city’s property at 45th Avenue West and Grand Avenue;
FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED, that these funds will be accounted for in Fund 262-020-5441 (Community Development, Planning, Other Sources), and that additional funds for the project are being provided through previously approved Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds.
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: The city is planning to construct a deep winter greenhouse on city land at 45th Avenue West and Grand Avenue to further food access, education, and job skills in Duluth. The city will partner with Community Action Duluth to operate the greenhouse.
The project was bid in July 2017 and an additional $18,000 was needed to complete the project including $10,000 from the Junior League of Duluth, $3,000 from Community Action Duluth, and $5,000 to be reprogrammed from the Community Development Program. The project is expected to start fall 2017.
