CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to contract with I-State Truck Center for the purchase of ONE (1) Freightliner 114SD cab and chassis in the amount of $114,851.73, payable as follows:
$86,138.80 510-500-1905-5580 (Water, Public Works and Utilities, Capital [incl deprec/debt svc], Capital Equipment)
$28,712.93 520-500-1905-5580 (Gas, Public Works and Utilities, Capital [incl deprec/debt svc], Capital Equipment)
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes the purchase of a 2018 Freightliner cab and chassis at a cost of $114,851.73. The unit will be outfitted with a dump body.
A 2014-2015 Fleet study found that City vehicle maintenance costs are reduced when units are traded in, repurposed, or auctioned when reaching twelve (12) years of age. Unit 1708, purchased in 2003 for $123,318, has exceeded this recommended replacement age by two years. The unit has incurred over $150,940 in maintenance costs as of November 2016.
This purchase is against Minnesota State Contract 124644, Release T-647(5).
