CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are authorized to contract with Donald Holm Construction Co., Inc. for Morgan Park Community Center exterior upgrades for a total amount not to exceed $182,273, payable from fund no. 205-130-1220-5520; CM205-CCUPGD (Parks Fund, Community Resources, Parks Capital, Buildings & Structures; Cap Mtce Fund 205, Community Club Upgrades).
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes a contract with Donald Holm Construction Co., Inc. for Morgan Park Community Center exterior upgrades for an amount not to exceed $182,273.
Morgan Park Community Center has been identified as one of the key hub park facilities. Much of the building and its components are still original from the early 1980’s and are in need of replacement. Most of the windows are deteriorated and inoperable, causing the building to overheat.
This project will address the windows and doors at ground level and should reduce heating loads by 20-25%, as well as substantially improve the comfort level in the summer. Five additional phases have been drafted for future consideration.
The portion of the work related to energy upgrades will be eligible for energy rebates from Comfort Systems and Minnesota Power.
Purchasing issued an Invitation to Bid on June 15, 2017, and received three bids. One bid was withdrawn due to an error. Donald Holm Construction Co., Inc. submitted the lowest responsive bid.
