AN ORDINANCE DESIGNATING THE DULUTH WOMAN’S CLUB AT 2400 EAST SUPERIOR STREET AS A DULUTH HERITAGE PRESERVATION LANDMARK.

CITY PROPOSAL:
The city of Duluth does ordain:
Section 1. Under the authority of Section 50-37.8 of the Duluth Legislative Code, 1959, as amended, the city of Duluth does designate the Duluth Woman’s Club, 2400 East Superior Street, as a Duluth heritage preservation landmark (PL 17-074);
Section 2. That this ordinance shall take effect and be in force 30 days from and after its passage and publication.
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: On June 27, 2017, the Duluth heritage preservation commission held a public hearing on the proposal and voted 5 yeas, 0 nays, and 0 abstentions to recommend the landmark designation after having received comments from the planning commission (who voted 8-0 to recommend approval of the nomination). This nomination was forwarded to the state historic preservation office, but no comments were received.
The motion to approve an amendment to the Regulation Plan by the city council must prevail with a simple majority.
