RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING ACCEPTANCE OF A $1,000 GRANT FROM THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES AND MINNESOTA LAKE SUPERIOR COASTAL PROGRAM FOR TRAIL COUNTERS ON THE WESTERN WATERFRONT TRAIL.

CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are authorized to accept the grant award and enter into an agreement substantially in the form attached hereto as exhibit A, with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the city of Duluth estimates the total project cost to be $2,000, including the sub-award grant amount of $1,000 to be deposited into 452-030-4210-01-HANDHTAX-1501-02 (Tourism & Recreation Projects, Finance, Pass-thru Federal Grants Capital, Western Waterfront Trail Renewal); and 1:1 matching funds as follows: $1,000 from Fund 452 Tourism & Recreation Projects bond proceeds.
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes the acceptance of a $1,000 sub-award grant from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and Minnesota Lake Superior Coastal Program to purchase and install three trail counters on the Western Waterfront Trail. This project will allow assessment of trail use before and after installation of signage. The Western Waterfront Trail will be the first major trail in the Corridor to receive wayfinding signage upgrades, consistent with the council approved signage and wayfinding mini-master plan.
