CITY PROPOSAL:
WHEREAS, the city of Duluth council passed resolution 17-0457R on July 17, 2017 authorizing application to and, if offered, acceptance of a $750,000 Greater Minnesota Regional Park and Trail Commission (GMRPTC) grant to support building expansion of Hartley Nature Center (HNC) and comprehensive wayfinding throughout Hartley Park, with the city acting as a legal sponsor for the project; and

WHEREAS, the original resolution and application specified that the local match would be provided exclusively by HNC; and

WHEREAS, upon review of the grant application, the GMRPTC determined that the city must guarantee the match funds for this project.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that proper city officials are hereby authorized to commit $50,000 from the 2018 Parks Fund 205-130-1220-5530-CM205-Hartley (Parks Fund, Community Resources, Parks Capital, Improvements Other than Buildings,) as match for that $250,000 portion of the requested grant that is dedicated to wayfinding and signage in Hartley Park.

Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes proper city officials to commit $50,000 from the Parks Fund as match for a $250,000 portion of a previously requested $750,000 grant from the Greater Minnesota Regional Park and Trail Commission (GMRPTC) for improvements at Hartley Park.
