RESOLUTION SUPPORTING A REGIONAL INCLUSIVE PLAYGROUND FOR EVERYBODY.

BY COUNCILOR HOBBS:
WHEREAS, outdoor play is necessary for all children to develop emotionally, physically, socially and cognitively; and
WHEREAS, accessible, inclusive playgrounds designed for children of all abilities are crucial for the health and wellness of individuals and families in south St. Louis county and the city of Duluth; and
WHEREAS, communities in south St. Louis county are exploring the possibility of constructing a regional inclusive playground for everybody to support individuals who have disabilities, their families, friends, teachers, employers and caregivers; and
WHEREAS, citizens of Duluth and the surrounding communities would benefit from access to an inclusive playground for everybody because of improved engagement in the community and the elimination of barriers to a healthier life.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the city of Duluth supports and encourages the construction of a regional inclusive playground for everybody.
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: The city of Proctor and individuals in south St. Louis county have been fundraising and working towards building a regional inclusive playground for everybody that will enhance access for people with disabilities to a playground/recreational area. The city of Duluth supports this effort.
