CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to contract with C & S Chemicals, for the purchase and delivery of an estimated 125,400 gallons of liquid aluminum sulfate in year 2018, in accordance with city-approved specifications and the vendor’s low bid of $.839 per gallon, for a total of $105,210.60, payable from 510-500-1955-5216-04 (water fund, Public Works and Utilities, water treatment and pumping 1955, chemicals 5216, liquid aluminum sulfate 04).
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes the purchase and delivery of 125,400 gallons of liquid aluminum sulfate from C & S Chemicals for a total cost of $105,210.60, payable from the water fund.
This chemical is used for water purification at the Lakewood water treatment plant, located at 8130 Congdon Boulevard, in Duluth. The total of 125,400 gallons is an estimated quantity based on past need.
C & S Chemicals’ low bid of $.839 per gallon is lower than the 2017 low bid, which was $.9945 per gallon.
The purchasing division posted an Invitation for Bids on November 15, 2017 and received five responses as listed below. C & S Chemicals submitted the lowest bid.
