CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to contract with Nortrax Equipment Company for the purchase of a 2018 John Deere wheel loader in the amount of $159,365, payable from 250-015-2018-5580 (capital equipment, Public Administration, fiscal year 2018, capital equipment).
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes the purchase of a 2018 John Deere wheel loader from Nortrax Equipment Company with a LoadRite smart loader scale system installed.
A 2014-15 Fleet study found that City’s total cost of vehicle ownership is reduced when street maintenance vehicles of this type are traded in, repurposed, or auctioned when reaching twelve years of age. Staff identified the need to replace loader 3395 as a high priority for 2018. This loader is in its thirteenth year and serves a vital function in year-round activities, including alley maintenance, stockpiling of aggregates, snow plowing and snow removal. Maintenance and repair costs for this unit have reached $124,187 (106% of its purchase price).
The new loader will allow for more efficient operations within the street maintenance division.
This purchase is against Minnesota state contract 134463, release L-331(5), and includes a three-year comprehensive warranty, including providing replacement equipment during maintenance periods to prevent downtime.
