RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PROPER CITY OFFICIALS TO ACCEPT FUNDS FROM THE JUNIOR LEAGUE OF DULUTH FOR AN OUTDOOR CLASSROOM AT THE SITE OF THE DEEP WINTER GREENHOUSE.

CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the city of Duluth is hereby authorized to accept $4,500 from the Junior League of Duluth, to be used for construction of an outdoor classroom adjacent to the Deep Winter Greenhouse on the city’s property at 45th Avenue West and Grand Avenue, and to execute any documents required to accept such grant;
FURTHER RESOLVED, that these funds will be accounted for in Fund 262-020-4700 (Community Development, Planning, Other Sources).
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: The purpose of this resolution is to authorize the city to accept a $4,500 donation from the Junior League of Duluth, to be used for construction of a pergola on a concrete slab, to be used as an outdoor classroom at the Deep Winter Greenhouse at 45th Avenue West and Grand Avenue. Combined, the greenhouse and community garden constitute the Edible Duluth Denfeld project, with the goal of increasing food access and food production year-round in this part of the city. Construction on the Greenhouse started in 2017 and will be completed in 2018.
