RESOLUTION AMENDING A CONTRACT WITH EVER-GREEN ENERGY, INC. TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION INSPECTION SERVICES NECESSARY FOR THE CONVERSION OF THE EXISTING DULUTH ENERGY STEAM SYSTEM TO A HOT WATER SYSTEM, TO INCREASE THE AMOUNT BY $741,063 FOR A NEW TOTAL OF $1,187,635.

CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that contract 22890 with Ever-Green Energy, Inc. for professional engineering services for the Duluth Energy Steam System Conversion Project be amended to include additional professional design and inspection services to be performed in 2018 as detailed in the change order attached as Exhibit A. This increase in scope increases the amount of the contract by $741,063, for a new total of $1,187,635, payable from 540-920-1499-5530 (steam, steam department, steam non-operating, improvements other than buildings), city project 1525.
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution amends contract 22890 with Ever-Green Energy, Inc. in an estimated amount of $741,063. This amendment is necessary due to the change in scope of the amended contract to now include design services necessary to facilitate the conversion of the existing steam system to the hot water system and switch customers over to the hot water system, as well as to provide construction services for the Superior Street Construction project in 2018. Due to the complicated and specialized nature of the project, City staff requires assistance from Ever-Green Energy, Inc. to perform design and construction inspection services for the Project.
