CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to contract with I-State Truck Center for the purchase of a 2019 Freightliner 108SD cab and chassis in the amount of $85,974.65, and to contract with Crysteel Truck Equipment for the purchase and installation of plow equipment and refurbished sander for the same cab and chassis in the amount of $78,237.00, for a total amount of $164,211.65, payable from 250-015-2018-5580, CE250-V1807 (capital equipment fund, public administration, fiscal year 2018, capital equipment; capital equipment fund 250, retro fit plow truck - street maint).
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes the purchase of a 2019 cab and chassis, as well as outfitting it for snow removal and sanding operations. This unit will replace unit 3366.
The 2014-2015 Fleet Study found that, in order to minimize total City vehicle costs for purchase and maintenance, vehicles of this kind should be replaced when they reach 12 years old. Unit 3366 was purchased in 2007 for $143,658, and has incurred $201,831.26 (140% of its value) in maintenance costs to date.
The cab and chassis purchase is against Minnesota state contract 124644, release T-647(5); the outfitting purchase is against Minnesota state contract 120910, release S-863(5). The purchase price is further reduced by the trade-in value of unit 3366.
