RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PROPER CITY OFFICIALS TO ACCEPT A HAZARDOUS MATERIALS EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS GRANT FROM THE STATE OF MINNESOTA IN THE AMOUNT OF $18,066.36 AND FURTHER AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF A GRANT AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF MINNESOTA.

CITY PROPOSAL:

RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are authorized to accept a grant and authorize the execution of a grant agreement, substantially in the form of the attached exhibit A from the State of Minnesota, Commissioner of Public Safety, Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management for 2017 Hazardous Materials Emergency Preparedness Grant Agreement No. A-HMEP-2017-DULUTHFD-008, in the amount of $18,066.36, said funds to be deposited in Fund No. 210-030-3193-4210-02 (special projects fund, finance department, cold zone hazmat training, pass-thru federal grants, operating), for the purpose of attending a cold zone hazardous materials training conference, to purchase hazmat IQ publications and pay instructor costs for specialty hazmat training and committing $4,516.59 as the city’s local share cost of said grant to be paid from the city’s Fund 210-030-3191-5441 (special project fund, finance department, emergency response teams).

 

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  The purpose of this resolution is to authorize accepting a grant in an amount of $18,066.36 from the state department of public safety, division of homeland security and emergency management to off-set the cost of various hazmat related expenses as outlined in the budget summary report included in exhibit A.
