RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to purchase an all-hazard response vessel from Lake Assault Boats, LLC in the amount of $445,100, payable from fund 210-030-3148-5580 (Special Projects-Finance-Quick Response Vessel Grant-Capital Equipment)
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes the purchase of one (1) all-hazard response vessel from Lake Assault Boats, LLC, in the amount of $445,100. This purchase is funded in part from a grant through the Department of Homeland Security, with matching contributions from a variety of community partners and individuals. The vessel will be used to support maritime security, search/rescue, fire suppression, hazardous material response, environmental/spill response and medivac/EMS response in the Duluth/Superior harbor and surrounding Lake Superior watershed, and for training, security patrols and exercises.
The purchasing division posted a request for bids on January 20, 2017 on the city’s website. One bid was received from Lake Assault, LLC and was determined to be responsive. The purchase was delayed while the remaining matching grant funds were secured, and Lake Assault has agreed to maintain their bid price beyond the standard city sixty-day requirement.
