RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT WITH MINNESOTA POWER FOR JOINT CONSTRUCTION OF UTILITIES IN SUPERIOR STREET.

CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to enter into an agreement with Minnesota Power, a division of ALLETE, Inc., (“MP”), substantially in the form of Exhibit A attached hereto, for the joint construction of utility facilities in Superior Street between Sixth Avenue West and Third Avenue East pursuant to which the city will construct the improvements and MP will reimburse the city of its share of costs. Such reimbursement will be payable to Permanent Improvement Fund 411, Department 035 (Capital Projects Accounts), Object 5530 (Improvements other than Buildings), city project no. 0923TR.
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: The city will be reconstructing Superior Street from Seventh Avenue West to Fourth Avenue East. As part of this construction MP desires to upgrade the electrical system within the project limits. In the past the city has entered into joint project agreements to complete MP utility work during city construction projects with great success. Given this past success, the parties now propose to enter into a similar agreement for the Superior Street work.
As in previous agreements the city will contract for the construction of the entire project and MP will reimburse the city for all costs associated with the MP portion of the work.
