RESOLUTION APPROVING PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO THE SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE EXISTING CIVIL SERVICE CLASSIFICATION OF LIBRARY TECHNICIAN.

CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proposed amendments to the specifications for the existing civil service classification of library technician (attached as Exhibit A), which were approved by the civil service board on April 3, 2018, are approved. This classification shall remain subject to the city’s collective bargaining agreement with its basic unit employees and compensated at Pay Range 124, $3,188 to $3,697 per month.
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: The existing classification of library technician was revised to reflect the increasing importance of general customer service skills and the slightly diminished importance of technical library skills. Some library-specific language has been trimmed from the job requirements and some customer service language has been added. The library management team hopes that the changes will increase the number and diversity of applicants. There is no change in the rate of pay, which remains Pay Range 124, $3,188 to $3,697 per month.
