Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  The new classification of natural resource coordinator has been created to coordinate the development and implementation of systems, plans, programs, and projects that are intended to protect, restore, and responsibly manage natural resources on nearly 7000 acres of undeveloped land owned by the city including extensive forests and wetlands, 43 named streams, and miles of sensitive shoreline. Duties will include planning and implementation of natural resource restoration projects, support for project-related environmental assessment and permitting, establishment and coordination of protected areas, and technical guidance on issues including park planning, acquisition and sale of city land, management of invasive and nuisance species, and compliance with environmental regulatory processes. The position will support a variety of city departments including planning, public administration, public works, and business development. The pay range negotiated for the classification is Range 34, $5,115 to $6,014 per month.
