CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that proper city officials are hereby authorized to enter into a purchase agreement, attached hereto as exhibit A, for purchase of wetland credits deposited in the Minnesota Wetland Bank administered by the Minnesota Board of Water and Soil Resources to offset wetland impacts within the Spirit Mountain Recreation Area boundary.
FURTHER RESOLVED, that once the permit is approved, proper city officials are hereby authorized to purchase said credits in the amount of $62,032.50, payable from 452-030-5530-HANDHTAX-1506 (Tourism & Recreational Projects, Finance, Improvements Other Than Buildings, Nordic-Spirit Mountain).
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes the application for, and if permitted, purchase of wetland credits deposited in the Minnesota Wetland Bank administered by the Minnesota Board of Water and Soil Resources. Purchase of these credits will offset wetland impacts within the Spirit Mountain Recreation Area boundary resulting from construction of the entire Grand Avenue Nordic Center ski trail system over the next few years.
Grand Avenue Nordic Center is part of the larger Spirit Mountain Master Plan vision to develop a regional cross-country skiing destination with dependable, top quality, extended-season skiing for recreation and competition.
