CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are authorized to contract with M & T Fire and Safety Inc., for the purchase of fifty (50) sets of structural firefighting turnout gear in the amount of $119,900, payable from fund 250-015-2018-5580; CE250-E1815 (Capital Equipment, Public Administration, Fiscal Year 2018 Capital Equipment; Capital Equipment Fund 250 Turnout Gear (PPE), Hose, Helmet, SCBA - Fire).
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes a three (3) year purchase agreement, including the initial purchase of fifty (50) sets of structural firefighting turnout gear, consisting of a jacket and pants, for the Duluth Fire Department.
Purchasing issued an invitation to bid on May 2, 2018, and received two bids. After a thorough review, it was determined that the bid submitted by M & T Fire and Safety Inc. was the only bid which met the specifications developed by the firefighting gear turnout committee. M & T Fire and Safety bid a price of $1,229 per jacket and $1,169 per pants for a total of $2,398 per set of gear.
