RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN AMENDMENT TO AN AGREEMENT WITH SHORT ELLIOT HENDRICKSON, INC., FOR PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERING SERVICES FOR THE MUNGER TRAIL EXTENSION, TO INCREASE THE AMOUNT BY $65,700 FOR A NEW TOTAL OF $1,004,700.

Body

CITY PROPOSAL:

RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are authorized to amend, in substantially the form attached as Exhibit A, an agreement bearing city contract number 21000 with Short Elliot Hendrickson, Inc. (SEH), for professional engineering services for Cross City Trail design and construction administration for an increase of $65,700 and a new total contract not to exceed $1,004,700, payable from fund 450-030-5530; CP2009-0568TR (Capital Improvement Fund, Finance, Improvements Other than Buildings; Project CP2009-0568TR).

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  This resolution authorizes a fourth amendment to agreement 21000 with SEH, INC., for professional engineering services for Cross City Trail design and construction administration to allow for 2018-2019 construction of the Cross City Trail from the vicinity of the Heritage Center in Lincoln Park to Irving Park via the community-preferred, Council-approved, “River Route”.

This is expected to be the last amendment to this contract. In total, the four amendments have expanded the original scope of work from Cross City Trail master planning and engineering design of one trail segment to master planning and engineering for five different segments - one from the Lakewalk to the Heritage Center constructed in 2014, one above the Fairmount neighborhood to the zoo constructed in 2016, one following the River Route from Heritage Center to Irving Park that will be completed in 2019, and two connecting the zoo to Spirit Mountain and the Munger Trail, respectively, that have been partially designed for future construction.  Engineering is funded by Federal High Priority Funds of $564,800 and capital funds of $439,900.
