CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to contract with Custom Fire for the purchase of a 2018 Spartan Custom Fire 1500 gallons per minute triple combo pumper truck in an amount not to exceed $600,000, payable from 250-015-2018-5580, CE250-V1801 (Capital Equipment, Public Administration, Fiscal Year 2018, Capital Equipment, New Engine/Tower Replacements - Fire).
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes the purchase of a 2018 Spartan Custom Fire 1500 gallons per minute triple combo pumper truck from Custom Fire.
The new pumper truck will replace unit 7344 (11 Engine) as a front line unit. A 2014-2015 Fleet study found that City vehicle maintenance costs are reduced when units of this type are traded in, repurposed, or auctioned when reaching twelve (12) years of age. Unit 7344 is a 2001 Freightliner pumper which has exceeded this replacement age and will become a reserve unit, allowing the City to return a Dougway unit that has been on loan from the Department of Defense/Department of Natural Resources.
This purchase is made under the H-GACBuy program approved by City Council on August 13, 2018 under resolution 18-0587R.
