RESOLUTION APPROVING PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO THE SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE EXISTING CIVIL SERVICE CLASSIFICATION OF WATER CONVEYANCE TECHNICIAN.

CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proposed amendments to the specifications for the existing civil service classification of water conveyance technician (attached as Exhibit A), which were approved by the civil service board on September 4, 2018, are approved. This classification shall remain subject to the city’s collective bargaining agreement with its basic unit employees and compensated at Pay Range 29, $4,160 to $4,886 per month.
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: The existing classification of water conveyance technician updates primarily include matching up with recent changes made to the water conveyance specialist position, which works directly above the water conveyance technician, specifically the maintenance electrician license requirement. The description was updated to include the full scope of tools, technology and resources utilized by the position and several redundancies of duties were removed. Previous training requirements, now aligned under the water conveyance specialist, were also removed. The description was also updated to the current job description format and template language was added. There is no change in the rate of pay, which remains Pay Range 29, $4,160 to $4,886 per month.
