CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are authorized to contract with Veit & Company, Inc. for Lakewalk and shoreline damage repair from 4th Avenue East to 7th Avenue East for a total amount not to exceed $1,184,590.00, payable from funds as described below:
70% ($829,213.00)
225-125-1811-5310-STORM17 (Disaster Recovery Fund; Finance; Storm Surge 2017)

30% ($355,377.00)
225-125-1813-5310-STORM18 (Disaster Recovery Fund; Finance; Storm Surge 2018)

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that it is the intent of the City Council that the local share for this contract, which is projected to be $296,147.50, will be funded by a federal grant or through the use of General Fund reserves. The City has applied for a National Coastal Resilience Fund Grant that may cover the local share. A decision on the National Coastal Resilience Fund Grant application is expected before the end of the year. Due to the urgent need for repairs, work on this section of the Lakewalk must be completed this Fall.

Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes a contract with Veit & Company, Inc. for Lakewalk and shoreline damage repair from 4th Avenue East to 7th Avenue East for an amount not to exceed $1,184,590.00.

The 360-foot section of the Lakewalk from 4th Avenue E to 7th Avenue E is in need of urgent repairs. The shoreline was severely damaged in the consecutive October 2017 and April 2018 storms. This section of the boardwalk has been undermined by waves, representing a significant public safety hazard and a significant vulnerability to additional storm damage.
