RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PROPER CITY OFFICIALS TO ACCEPT A $17,110 GRANT FROM THE STATE OF MINNESOTA, DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES TO FUND THE HOOKED ON FISHING PROGRAM.

 

Body

CITY PROPOSAL:

            RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to accept a grant award from the state of Minnesota, department of natural resources in the total amount of $17,110, to support the Duluth police department’s hooked on fishing program.

FURTHER RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are authorized to execute a grant agreement, substantially the same as the attached Exhibit C, from the state of Minnesota, department of natural resources. Funds to be deposited into fund # 215-200-2223-4220-02 (Duluth police grant programs, police, dnr grant, state of Minnesota operating) and expenses to be paid from fund # 215-200-2223-5219 (Duluth police grant programs, police, dnr grant, other miscellaneous supplies).

FURTHER RESOLVED, that the required match of $40,863 to come from city staff time, and donations from local vendors and volunteer chaperones as itemized in the attached Exhibit B.

 

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  This resolution authorizes the proper city officials to accept a grant from the State of Minnesota, Department of Natural Resources in the amount of $17,110 and acceptance of donations for the required match of $40,863. The grant funding will be applied to costs associated with the Duluth Police Department’s Hooked on Fishing program. In addition, 493 hours of police department staff time and city employee time will be dedicated to program preparation, facilitation, and grant management to satisfy the match requirement of the grant. The grant period is from September 17, 2018, through December 31, 2019.
