CITY PROPOSAL: RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are authorized to contract with Four Star Construction, Inc. for replacement of the Morgan Park community center roof for a total amount not to exceed $336,001.00, payable from fund no. 205-130-1220-5520 CM205-COMCTR-MOPARK (Parks Fund; Community Resources; Parks Capital; Buildings and Structures; Cap Mtce Fund 205, Various Community Center Remodels, Morgan Park Community Center).
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes a contract with Four Star Construction, Inc. for replacement of the Morgan Park community center roof for an amount not to exceed $336,001.00.
The roof of the Goodfellowship Community Center in Morgan Park has reached the end of its useful life. The roof has a number of leaks, and is poorly insulated. Phase 1 will include removal of skylights and replacement of the roof and clerestory windows, and phase 2 (to be bid at a later date) will include adding insulation. Replacement of the roof will reduce instances of emergency maintenance, and new windows will reduce leakage and provide improved ventilation. Clerestory windows will be direct-purchased by the city; contractor to install.
Purchasing issued an Invitation to Bid on August 29, 2018, and received two bids as listed below. Four Star Construction, Inc. submitted the lowest responsive bid.
