Title

RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN AMENDMENT TO AGREEMENT C22895 WITH AMI CONSULTING ENGINEERS FOR ADDITIONAL CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT SERVICES FOR THE DECC SEAWALL PROJECT FOR AN INCREASE OF $105,500.00 AND A NEW TOTAL AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $794,903.39.

Body

CITY PROPOSAL:

RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to execute an amendment, substantially in the form attached as Exhibit A, with AMI Consulting Engineers for additional construction management services for the DECC Seawall project, for an increase of $105,500.00, and a new total not to exceed $794,903.39, payable from fund 450-030-5530-CP450-SEAWLL (Capital Improvements; Finance; Improvements Other than Buildings; Capital Projects - Other Fund Contributions, Slip and Bayfront seawall repair).

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  This resolution authorizes an amendment to the agreement with AMI Consulting Engineers for additional construction management services for the DECC Seawall project.

AMI’s Contract for the construction management services began in November of 2017. Since the first change order issued on 6/12/2018, the Contractor has extended their schedule of completion by two months and the MPCA has required AMI to be onsite 100% of the time instead of the agreed upon 75% in the original Contract. In addition, AMI has completed several items, at the request of the City, which were outside of the original scope of work. The additional services include additional dive inspections, additional engineering for unanticipated structural failures around the Minnesota Slip Bridge abutments, completion of regulatory Response Action Plan (RAP) implementation report, and construction administration for Harbor Drive repairs.

AMI Consulting Engineer’s proposal and project estimation sheet for this amendment are attached in Exhibit A.
