CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to submit an application to St. Louis County for an Aquatic Invasive Species Prevention Program grant of $10,000 for CD3 station maintenance and educational outreach.
FURTHER RESOLVED, that if offered, the city agrees to accept the funds and has the financial, technical and managerial capacity to ensure proper planning and maintenance of the project.
FURTHER RESOLVED, the Duluth city council names the fiscal agent for this project as Wayne Parson, City of Duluth Chief Financial Officer, 411 West First Street, Duluth, MN 55802.
FURTHER RESOLVED, if awarded, funds to be deposited into 205-130-1220-4260-CM205-CD3STN (Parks Fund, Community Resources, Parks Capital, Revenue - St. Louis County, Capital Maintenance Fund 205, CD3 Station).
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes application to, and if offered, acceptance of a $10,000 Aquatic Invasive Species Prevention Program grant from St. Louis County for maintenance of the CD3 Station at Munger Landing and educational outreach.
In September 2018, the city accepted a CD3 Station from Wildlife Forever for use at Munger Landing. This waterless boat cleaning station helps reduce the spread of aquatic invasive species, providing user operated cleaning equipment including a wet/dry vacuum, blower, and tethered hand tools. The donated equipment is part of the larger statewide Clean Drain Dry Initiative campaign.
The station has internet-connected technology allowing city staff to track visitor use and functionality. This grant will fund technology costs and general maintenance, such as the replacement of worn or damaged hand tools. In addition, grant funds will support the purchase of educ...
