RESOLUTION SUPPORTING ADDITIONAL LEGISLATIVE PRIORITIES FOR 2019 LEGISLATIVE SESSION.

CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the City of Duluth supports the following additional legislative initiatives:
• Increase Local Government Aid and establish inflation adjustment;
• Support appropriations bonds for affordable housing;
• Support general obligation bonds for public housing rehabilitation;
• Support general fund appropriation for Minnesota Investment Fund;
• Support general fund appropriation for Job Creation Fund;
• Support general fund appropriation for Redevelopment Fund;
• Support general obligation bonds or general fund appropriation for Port Development Assistance Program;
• Support statewide aid Family Leave Program;
• Support increase in statewide minimum wage;
• Support efforts to address the opiate crisis including “penny-a-pill” proposal; and
• Increase coverage of military employment costs for public employees.
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: The City of Duluth supports these legislative priorities for 2019 that enhance the quality of life for the citizens in Duluth and throughout Northeastern Minnesota. The city will provide leadership as needed or requested to these collaborative priorities and goal.
