RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT WITH THE LAKE SUPERIOR TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT TEAM PARTNER AGENCIES FOR SERVICES UNDER A GRANT FROM THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY FOR THE 2019 TOWARD ZERO DEATHS PROJECT.

CITY PROPOSAL:

RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to execute an agreement, substantially the same as the attached Exhibit C, based upon the Enforcement Calendar substantially the same as the attached Exhibit B, with the 2019 TZD Lake Superior Traffic Enforcement Team partner agencies; St. Louis County for $43,696, the University of Minnesota-Duluth police department for $7,562, the city of Hermantown for $25,304, the city of Proctor for $20,958, and the city of Floodwood for $14,084 for services provided under the 2019 toward zero deaths enforcement grant from the Minnesota department of public safety, substantially the same as the attached Exhibit A. All reimbursement payments made to other agencies under the agreement shall be paid from Fund No. 215-200-2209-5447 (Duluth Police Grant Programs, Police, 2019 TZD Grant, Payments to other Government Agencies) and reimbursement payments for the Duluth Police Department shall be paid from Fund No. 215-200-2209-5700-10 (Duluth Police Grant Programs, Police, 2019 TZD Grant, Interfund Transfers Out to General Fund).

 

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  The Duluth police department is the designated recipient and fiscal agent of a 2019 Toward Zero Deaths enforcement project grant from the Minnesota Department of Public Safety in the total amount of $236,300. The purpose of this resolution is to approve an agreement outlining the services to be provided by the Lake Superior Traffic Enforcement Team partner agencies of which the city of Duluth is a member. The grant funds will be used to reimburse partner agencies for overtime salary/fringe benefit, 9-1-1 Dispatch, and TZD Conference costs. The City of Duluth will retain $124,696 of the total grant award, with $2,400 designated for administrative costs.
