RESOLUTION APPROVING PROPOSED SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE NEW CIVIL SERVICE CLASSIFICATION OF SEASONAL UTILITIES LABORER, AND SPECIFYING CONTRACT BENEFITS FOR SAME.

CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proposed specifications for the new civil service classification of seasonal utilities laborer (attached as Exhibit A), which were approved by the civil service board on January 8, 2019, are approved; that said classification shall be subject to the city's collective bargaining agreement with its basic unit employees; and that pay range for said classification shall be Range 15, $2,285 to $2,624 per month.
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: The new classification of seasonal utilities laborer has been created to allow the city to hire seasonal workers to assist the public works and utilities department as seasonal workload increases. A seasonal classification allows employees to work longer than a temporary position, which is limited to 67 days (100 days if they meet student status requirements.) The pay range negotiated for the classification is consistent with other seasonal classifications, Range 15, $2,285 to $2,624 per month.
