RESOLUTION APPROVING PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO THE PAY RANGE FOR THE EXISTING CIVIL SERVICE CLASSIFICATION OF JANITOR II.

CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proposed amendments to the pay range for the existing civil service classification of janitor II, the specifications for which were approved by the civil service board on October 8, 1995, and by the city council on October 27, 1995, as resolution no. 95-1037R (attached as Exhibit A), are approved. This classification shall remain subject to the city's collective bargaining agreement with its basic unit employees; and that pay range for said classification shall change to Range 22, pay rate of $3,179 to $3,700 per month, from Range 122, pay rate of $2,957 to $3,431 per month.
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: The pay range for the existing classification of janitor II was revised to allow these employees to work 40 hours per week instead of 37.5. Per basic unit contract language, for pay ranges 116 through 142 the normal workweek is 37.5 hours; for pay ranges 14 through 39 the normal workweek is 40 hours. The pay range negotiated for this classification is Range 22, pay rate of $3,179 to $3,700 per month. This is a change from Range 122, pay rate of $2,957 to $3,431 per month.
