CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to accept a grant from the Department of Justice, Office of Community Oriented Policing Services, in the amount of $468,750.00 to be used in support of the 2018 COPS Office STOP School Violence: School Violence Prevention Program substantially the same as the attached exhibit A.
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to execute an agreement, substantially the same as the attached exhibit B, with Independent School District No. 709, a subrecipient of this award, to provide an additional $156,250.00 in matching funds to purchase equipment and technology to improve security at schools and on school grounds within the City of Duluth in support of the project; revenue to be deposited in fund no. 215-200-2226-4209-02 (Duluth police grant programs, police, COPS school violence prevention, direct federal grants operating), and expenses to be taken from fund no. 215-200-2226-5447 (Duluth police grant programs, police, COPS school violence prevention, payment to other govt. agencies).

Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes the proper city officials to accept a grant award whose budget summary is attached as Financial Clearance Memorandum, Exhibit C, in the amount of $468,750 from the Department of Justice, Office of Community Oriented Policing, to provide to Independent School District No. 709 to improve security at schools and on school grounds within their jurisdiction.
