RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PROPER CITY OFFICIALS TO ACCEPT A $10,000 GRANT FROM THE NATIONAL OCEANOGRAPHIC AND ATMOSPHERIC ADMINISTRATION, ADMINISTERED BY THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES, FOR DEVELOPMENT OF A NATURAL RESOURCE MANAGEMENT PLAN FOR THE PROPOSED HARTLEY NATURAL AREA.

CITY PROPOSAL:

RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to accept a grant provided by the US Department of Commerce National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration and administered by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources in the amount of $10,000 to develop a natural resource management plan for Hartley Park.

 

FURTHER RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are authorized to execute a grant agreement, substantially in the same as that attached hereto as Exhibit A, with the State of Minnesota, funds to be deposited into fund 205-130-1220-4210-CM205-NATRES-DNAP(Parks Fund, Community Resources, Parks Capital, Pass-thru Federal Funds, Natural Resources, Duluth Natural Areas Program).

 

FURTHER RESOLVED, that the required city match of $2,500 will be provided by fund 205-130-1220-5441-CM205-NATRES-DNAP (Parks Fund, Community Resources, Parks Capital, Other Services & Charges, Natural Resources, Duluth Natural Areas Program).

 

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  This resolution authorizes the proper city officials to accept a $10,000 Coastal Star Fund grant provided by the US Department of Commerce National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration and administered by the State of Minnesota Department of Natural Resources for the purpose of developing a natural resource restoration and management plan for the undeveloped portions of Hartley Park. The City will provide the required match through parks capital funds. The restoration and management plan is a required component of the process in progress to create a Hartley Natural Area as part of the Duluth Natural Areas Program.
