RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF A REGULATOR STATION HEATER FROM OGI PROCESS EQUIPMENT FOR AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $200,000.00

Body

CITY PROPOSAL:

RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to contract with OGI Process Equipment (OGI) for the purchase of a heater for the Great Lakes Regulator Station for an amount not to exceed $200,000.00, payable from 520-500-1905-5533, Util-1806 (gas, public works and utilities, capital improvements, revenue; utility projects, great lakes reg sta heater).

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  This resolution authorizes the purchase of a heater for the Great Lakes Regulator Station from OGI for an amount not to exceed $200,000.00 including sales tax, freight, expedited production, and startup.

The heater is a crucial and integral part of the regulator station system and must connect seamlessly with the rest of the system.  The number of suppliers for this type of equipment is extremely limited, and efforts to find another vendor to provide a quote for a heater that meets our requirements have been unsuccessful. Ordering from OGI will allow the City to run two heaters from the same supplier with controls that would be compatible with each other, similar configurations to allow simpler exterior pipe work, and a streamlined inventory of maintenance parts.

The existing heater failed twice over this past winter. Typical lead time for this equipment is 20-22 weeks; however, expedited production is possible which would allow the City to install the new heater before the next heating season.
