RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT WITH INDEPENDENT TELEVISION FESTIVAL, INC. IN THE AMOUNT OF $50,000 FOR THE 2019 ITVFEST.

CITY PROPOSAL:
WHEREAS; the city council approved $215,200 as undesignated funds in resolution 18-0807 passed on December 10, 2018 that appropriated the estimated 2019 hotel-motel and food and beverage tourism taxes and is available to finance the city’s contribution towards the Independent Television Festival.
WHEREAS; the 2019 Independent Television Festival (ITV Fest) is expected to have a significant impact on tourism to Duluth including media coverage that will showcase the City of Duluth to a worldwide audience.
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to enter into an agreement, substantially in the form of that attached as Exhibit A, with Independent Television Festival, Inc. in an amount not to exceed $50,000, payable from the Tourism Taxes Fund Unassigned Fund Balance (Fund 258-2530).
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes an agreement with Independent Television Festival, Inc. to support the 2019 ITVFest; an independent television festival to be held in Duluth in October 2019. This agreement is funded by tourism tax collections.
