RESOLUTION APPROVING THE ACQUISITION BY THE DULUTH AIRPORT AUTHORITY OF CERTAIN TAX-FORFEITED PROPERTY LOCATED AT THE DULUTH INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT.

CITY PROPOSAL:

                     RESOLVED, that pursuant to the Laws of Minnesota, 1969, Chapter 577, the Duluth city council does hereby approve the acquisition by the Duluth airport authority of tax-forfeited property located at the Duluth International Airport, St. Louis County, Minnesota, under a conditional use deed; said property is outlined in red on the attached Exhibit 1 and legally described as follows:

                     Legal Description: S 1/2 of N 1/2 of S 1/2 of SW 1/4 of NW 1/4 AND  S 1/2 of S 1/2 of SW 1/4 of NW 1/4 Except highway right of way AND EXCEPT the Southerly 200.00 feet of the S 1/2 of the S 1/2 of the SW 1/4 of the NW 1/4 except that part of the above described parcel falling within the present right-of-way of Ugstad Road, Section 3, Township 50 North, Range 15  (the “Property”).

 

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: The Duluth airport authority is making application to the commissioner of revenue for a conditional use deed for 13.12 acres of property located half a mile west of the main runway (Runway 9-27) in Safety Zone A of the Duluth International Airport.  The property is located in the direct path of flight approaches and ownership of this property is necessary for the safety of aviation entities and the general public.  Pursuant to the authority’s enabling legislation, property acquisition requires the approval of the city council by resolution.  This resolution accomplishes that approval.
