RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PROPER CITY OFFICIALS TO ACCEPT A FIFTY-PERCENT REIMBURSEMENT SAFETY GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $10,000 FROM THE STATE OF MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF LABOR AND INDUSTRY OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH CONSULTATION UNIT FOR THE STREET MAINTENANCE DIVISION.

CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to accept a fifty-percent reimbursement safety grant (contract attached as Exhibit A) in the amount of $10,000 from the state of Minnesota department of labor and industry occupational safety and health consultation unit. $4,000 of funds to be deposited in Fund No. 290-500-4654 (other reimbursements); $6,000 of funds to be deposited in Fund No. 250-015-2019-4654-02 (other reimbursements) for project CE250-V1909 ¾ ton pickups for street maintenance.
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes the proper city officials to accept a reimbursement grant from the Minnesota department of labor and industry occupational safety and health consultation unit for the city of Duluth street maintenance division's west tool house. The city will spend approximately $20,000 on eight cool-touch torches and an illuminating message sign for mobile street maintenance operations, and MNOSHA will reimburse the city at a fifty-percent rate ($10,000). The torches will be used to dry out cracks, potholes, and road surfaces to be painted before maintenance is done, or after to melt or dry materials.
