RESOLUTION OF SUPPORT FOR RECOMMENDED CHANGES TO OWNERSHIP AND USE OF PUBLIC GREEN SPACE IN THE LESTER PARK AND ENGER PARK AREAS.

 

Body

CITY PROPOSAL:

                     WHEREAS, as part of a fifteen month collaboration, the city of Duluth (“City”) worked with the Friends of Duluth Public Golf, the Duluth Golf Citizen Advisory Committee, and members of the public to make recommendations for the future of public golf in Duluth; and

                     WHEREAS, the City and a Citizen Advisory Committee comprised of city councilors, parks and recreation commissioners, elected leadership of Friends of Duluth Public Golf, and other community leaders have now formalized recommended changes to ownership and use of public green space in the Lester Park and Enger Park Areas as set forth in the attached Exhibit A; and

                     WHEREAS, the city of Duluth Parks and Recreation Commission has reviewed and recommended approval of the changes; and

                     WHEREAS, the city council has reviewed the proposed changes and finds it in the best interests of the City to continue to pursue such changes.

                     THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the city council of the city of Duluth hereby expresses support for city administration to pursue the recommended changes to ownership and use of public green space in the Lester Park and Enger Park areas, as outlined in Exhibit A attached hereto, said changes being subject to further commission and city council approvals. 

 

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  This resolution expresses support for proposed changes to ownership and use of public green space in the Lester Park and Enger Park Areas.  

 

The changes were reviewed by the Duluth Parks and Recreation Commission at their meeting on May 8, 2019 and recommended for approval.
