RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF AN AWARD FROM THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE, FOREST SERVICE, IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,750 FOR APPROVED EQUIPMENT REIMBURSEMENT AND FURTHER AUTHORIZING A COOPERATIVE LAW ENFORCEMENT AGREEMENT FOR LAKE SUPERIOR DRUG AND VIOLENT CRIME TASK FORCE OPERATIONS ON NATIONAL FOREST SERVICE LANDS.

CITY PROPOSAL:

RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to accept an award from the United States department of agriculture, forest service law enforcement and investigations, in the amount of $1,750 to be used for approved equipment reimbursement to the city of Duluth for the Lake Superior drug and violent crime task force and authorizing city officials to execute the Cooperative Law Enforcement Annual Operating Plan and Financial Plan, attached hereto as Exhibit A,  funds to be deposited in fund no. 215-200-2285-4209-02 (Duluth police grant programs, police, forest service law enforcement grant, direct federal grants operating), and expenses to be paid from fund no. 215-200-2285-5241 (Duluth police grant programs, police, forest service law enforcement grant, small equipment-office/operating).

             FURTHER RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to execute a cooperative law enforcement agreement, substantially the same as the attached Exhibit B, between the city of Duluth and the USDA forest service law enforcement and investigations for law enforcement activities conducted on national forest service lands by the Lake Superior drug and violent crime task force. 

 

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  The Duluth Police Department’s Lake Superior Drug and Violent Crime Task Force is the designated recipient of a $1,750 grant pursuant to the 2019 Cooperative Law Enforcement Annual Operating Plan and Financial Plan agreement, and the Cooperative Law Enforcement Agreement between the City of Duluth and United States Department of Agriculture Forest Service Law Enforcement and Investigations. This resolution authorizes the proper city officials to accept the award, execute the operating and financial plan, and execute the cooperative law enforcement agreement. The award monies will be used to reimburse approved equipment purchases for technical investigative services. The estimated award period is December 1, 2018 through September 30, 2019.
