CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are authorized to contract with Veit & Company, Inc. for phase 2 Lakewalk and shoreline damage repair from 4th Avenue East to 7th Avenue East for a total amount not to exceed $2,353,840.00, payable from funds as described below:

70% ($1,647,688.00)
225-125-1811-5310-STORM17 (disaster recovery fund; finance; storm surge 2017)

30% ($706,152.00)
225-125-1813-5310-STORM18 (disaster recovery fund; finance; storm surge 2018)

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that it is the intent of the City Council that the local share for this contract, which is projected to be $588,460.00, will be funded by through the use of General Fund reserves or by general obligation bonding.

Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes a contract with Veit & Company, Inc. for phase 2 Lakewalk and shoreline damage repair from 4th Avenue East to 7th Avenue East for an amount not to exceed $2,353,840.90.

The 1000 foot section of Lakewalk from 4th Avenue E to 7th Avenue E was severely damaged in the October 2017 and April 2018 storms. Phase 1 construction stabilized 350 feet of the shoreline with a concrete wall and stone revetment. Phase 2 construction will include stabilization of the remaining 650 feet of shoreline, new pavement and boardwalk, and site restoration for the length of the project area, shown in Exhibit A. This is part of a larger project that has been approved for state disaster recovery reimbursement. It is anticipated that approximately 75% of the total cost of this phase of work will be reimbursed by the state.

Purchasing issued an Invitation to Bid on April 30, 2019, and received two bids as listed below. Veit & Company, Inc. submitted the lowest responsive bid.
