RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING APPLICATION TO AND ACCEPTANCE OF A MINNESOTA RECREATION AND PARKS FOUNDATION GRANT OF $2,000 FOR RECREATION EQUIPMENT FOR NEW PROGRAMMING INITIATIVE, MOBILE RECREATION.

CITY PROPOSAL:
WHEREAS, the grant award will be used to purchase recreation equipment that will allow the parks and recreation department to expand program offerings across the city such as fishing, compass navigation, sports equipment, geocaching, outdoor cooking, slacklines, and bird watching equipment.
WHEREAS, the proper city officials are hereby authorized to apply and accept a grant from the Minnesota Recreation and Parks Foundation in the amount of $2,000 for program equipment purchases. Funds to be deposited into 205-130-1219-4270 (Parks Fund, Community Resources, Parks Operating, Other Grants).
WHEREAS, the city has authorization to sign the grant agreement substantially in the form of Exhibit A.
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes the application and acceptance of a $2,000 grant from the Minnesota Recreation and Parks Foundation for the purchase of outdoor recreational equipment. The parks and recreation division will use the additional equipment to expand program offerings across the city. One such program, mobile recreation, will bring equipment and staff to a different city park each week for community members to participate in activities in their neighborhood at no cost.
