Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  This resolution confirms the City’s intention to reassess the prior canceled assessments against the properties.  The properties have now been purchased through the St. Louis County’s Land Department.

Under the statute referenced above the City Council has the discretion to reassess the property for the amount of the canceled assessment.  A public hearing was held by the Special Assessments Board on May 14, 2019 and their recommendation is to reassess the parcels for the original assessment amount, removing all penalties and interest incurred. Minutes for the public hearing are attached as Exhibit A.
