RESOLUTION APPROVING PROPOSED SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE NEW CIVIL SERVICE CLASSIFICATION OF SENIOR TRANSPORTATION PLANNER, AND SPECIFYING CONTRACT BENEFITS FOR SAME.

CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proposed specifications for the new civil service classification of senior transportation planner (attached as Exhibit A), which were approved by the civil service board on June 4, 2019, are approved. This classification shall be subject to the city's collective bargaining agreement with its basic unit employees; and that pay range for said classification shall be Range 138, pay rate of $5,540 to $6,572 per month.
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: The new classification of senior transportation planner was created to better coordinate transportation projects citywide, and to begin implementation of the city's priorities for this area of work related to the imagine Duluth 2035 comprehensive plan. This classification will coordinate closely with the city engineer and the chief engineer of Transportation, on overall transportation projects citywide, including implementation of the city's new 0.5% sales tax dedicated to street improvements. The pay range negotiated for the classification is Range 138, pay rate of $5,540 to $6,572 per month.
