RESOLUTION APPROVING LAWS OF MINNESOTA, 2019 1^ST SPECIAL SESSION, CHAPTER 6, ARTICLE 10, SECTION 7.

CITY PROPOSAL:

                     WHEREAS, the Minnesota legislature has passed a law (Laws of Minnesota 2019, 1^st Special Session, Chapter 6, Article 10, Section 7) related to the imposition of an additional sales and use tax of one-half of one percent for street improvements in Duluth.

                     WHEREAS, Laws of Minnesota 2019, 1st Special Session, Chapter 6, Article 10, Section 7 requires approval by a majority of the city council before it becomes effective.

                     THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that Minnesota Laws 2019, 1^st Special Session, Chapter 6, Article 10, Section 7 is hereby approved.

                     FURTHER RESOLVED, that the city clerk shall promptly file with the secretary of state the certification required by Minn. Stat. Sec. 645.021, subd. 3.

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  This resolution provides the required approval of the state laws that authorize the City of Duluth to impose an additional sales and use tax of one-half of one percent to fund street improvement projects.  City voters approved the additional sales tax at the November 7, 2017 municipal election.
