Body

CITY PROPOSAL:

RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to enter into an agreement, substantially in the form of that attached hereto as exhibit A, with the Western Lake Superior Sanitary District pursuant to which the city will reconstruct certain sewer facilities owned by the district and related work as part of the city’s Decker Road Reconstruction Project and the district will reimburse the city for its share of the costs thereof, said reimbursement to be  payable to Permanent Improvement Fund 411, Department/Agency 035 (Capital Projects Accounts), Object 5530 (Improvements Other than Buildings), city project no. 0843.

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  The purpose of this resolution is to authorize an agreement with WLSSD to reimburse the city for sanitary sewer work on district-owned facilities as part of the city’s Decker Road Reconstruction Project.

During the 2019-2020 construction seasons, the city will be reconstructing Decker Road from Mall Drive to Piedmont Avenue.  The district has requested that the city, as part of its project, replace certain district-owned facilities including portions of the Hermantown Interceptor and is willing to reimburse the city for its share of construction costs.  Under this agreement, the district will design its replacement facilities and the city will include those designs in the city’s project plans.  The city will bid out the project and the city’s contractor will perform the work with the district supervising the installation of their facilities.  The city will then complete the reconstruction work.  The district will reimburse the city for the costs of the reconstruction of its facilities and for the costs associated with that work
