RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING ACCEPTANCE OF A $140,000 CRIME VICTIM SERVICES PROSECUTORIAL GRANT FROM THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY, OFFICE OF JUSTICE PROGRAMS, TO FUND A VICTIM SERVICES POSITION IN THE CITY ATTORNEY’S OFFICE.

CITY PROPOSAL:

RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to accept a FY 20/21 crime services prosecutorial grant in the amount of $140,000 and enter into an agreement, substantially in the form attached hereto as Exhibit A, with the Minnesota department of public safety, office of justice programs, said funds to be deposited into fund no. 110-110-1104-4210-02 (General Fund, Legislative & Executive, Attorney, Pass-thru Federal Operating Grants) and to provide matching funds in the amount not to exceed $26,251 of which $14,232 will be in kind funds and $12,019 will be paid out of fund no. 210-030-3109 (forfeiture fund).

 

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  This resolution authorizes acceptance of a $140,000 grant award from the Minnesota department of public safety, office of justice programs, to fund a .8 FTE victim services position in the city attorney’s office for two years.  The victim services provider will work with prosecutors to improve victim services using a victim centered approach.  The city will provide office space, computers and technical support to the victim services provider valued at $14,232 as in-kind matching funds for the grant and $12,019 from the forfeiture fund.
