CITY PROPOSAL:

RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are authorized to accept a joint powers agreement, Amendment 1, SWIFT Contract No. 134779, substantially in the form of Exhibit A, with the State of Minnesota, Commissioner of Public Safety, State Fire Marshal Division, in an amount not to exceed $900,000, said funds to be deposited in Fund No. 210-030-3191-4220-02 (special projects fund, finance department, emergency response team, State of Minnesota operating grants), for the purpose of funding costs associated with management, staffing and operation of a regional Emergency Response Team (ERT).

 

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  The purpose of this resolution is to authorize acceptance of an amended and extended joint powers agreement to continue the operation of the regional emergency response team (ERT).  The terms of this agreement will fund the ERT from July 1, 2017 through June 30, 2021 via reimbursements not to exceed $225,000 each state fiscal year.  The Duluth fire department ERT is dedicated to regional response to hazardous material incidents and emergency response as outlined in the joint powers agreement.
