RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN AMENDMENT TO AGREEMENT L30102 WITH AMI CONSULTING ENGINEERS FOR COORDINATION OF THE TEMPORARY RELOCATION OF THE WILLIAM A. IRVIN FOR AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $14,000.00.

Body

CITY PROPOSAL:

RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to amend an agreement in the form substantially attached as Exhibit A with AMI Consulting Engineers, for coordination of the temporary relocation of the William A. Irvin. for an amount not to exceed $14,000.00, payable from fund no: 450-030-5535-CP450-IRVIN (Capital Improvement Projects; Finance; Non-Capital Improvements)

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  This resolution authorizes an agreement, substantially in the format attached as Exhibit A, for coordination of the temporary relocation of the William A. Irvin from Minnesota Slip to Fraser Shipyards in fall of 2018 and back from Fraser Shipyards to Minnesota Slip in fall of 2019.

Under this contract, AMI Consulting Engineers is responsible for planning, coordination with several parties (including City of Duluth, DECC, United States Army Corps of Engineers, US Coast Guard, Fraser Shipyards, and others), inspection of the MN Slip Bridge opening, and construction administration during the return of the William A. Irvin to the MN Slip.

The greater than originally anticipated expense is due to the necessity in 2018 for AMI to substantially redesign the Irvin move plans and specifications to reduce overall project costs.
